FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What will Pivot Video deliver? What is the finished product?
Each one hour remote interview will be edited down to multiple short form videos which may be shared across social media, or wherever you wish. You have the flexibility to choose versions, lengths and formats.
What if we're not accustomed to being on camera?
That’s one of the main reasons to use Pivot Video. We will coach your team appropriately on how to frame the subject matter. Based on our pre-production meeting we will prepare an outline, including question prompts, and share that with you in advance of each recording session. During the session we provide professional film direction to make sure you, and the entire background scene, are camera ready.
How much does Pivot Video cost?
We offer options ranging from $1,350 per month to $4,000 per month, depending on your specific requirements. The one-time cost of equipment, the Shoebox, can be $300 - $700, depending on what gear you may already have. See pricing.
How do you manage each month’s work?
During the pre-production phase we have a 30 minute call to plan your content for the month. We suggest and agree upon topics and question prompts so the subject is prepared for our interview. The production phase follows, in which we will remotely direct and record a one hour interview at a scheduled time. In the post-production phase we edit and deliver your videos. The finished short form videos will contain segments of the interview, stock b-roll, stock music, effects, titles, captions and logos. You will be able to review an initial draft edit and request revisions within several days after the recording session. Final deliverables are made available soon after, and the entire cycle is completed before we begin again for the next month of content.
How will I distribute the video content?
That is entirely up to you. Some customers self-publish and others leverage the services of a digital media marketing firm to post on social media, via organic or paid placement channels. During our pre-production phase, we will discuss how you intend to distribute the finished media so that we can format it correctly for the intended platforms.
What is different about Pivot Video versus traditional video production?
Our unique remote capture technique allows high quality video and audio to be recorded without a film crew on-site, so it consumes less our YOUR time to produce. Pivot Video offers a faster time-to-market and can offer a cost advantage over traditional video production.
If I have existing video, illustrations or a logo, can I include those in the videos?
Yes! In our pre-production call, let us have a look so we can figure out the best way to make use of your existing content.
How much of MY time will it take to produce Pivot Videos?
You should expect to spend about 30 minutes per month on a pre-production call, and 1 hour in each monthly interview recording. After that, you may spend a few minutes per month reviewing drafts and finished product.
I need one version of a video for my trade show booth, and another version of the same content for my LinkedIn profile. Can you create 2 versions and does that count as 2 videos?
Yes, we can certainly create multiple versions of content, each one formatted appropriately for each specific platform or use case. Each version counts separately toward the monthly total.
What is the “Pivot ShoeBox”?
We think this is the fun part. The Pivot ShoeBox is a small carton, about the size of a shoebox, containing a high quality 4K USB camera, a professional USB microphone, a small light, a few cables and a simple guide to help you connect it all. Don’t worry, our clients are almost always NOT technical people, and we will make sure everything is working in our initial pre-production meeting.
We did extensive testing, both internally and with customers, to make sure the gear delivers the professional audio and video quality you expect while still being easy to setup and use by non-technical people.
Can a single interview session be with more than one person?
Yes. Each month we have a pre-production call to align ourselves with an outline of content. Just tell us what you intend to record, and who will be present during the hour of recording.
What if I have more than one location?
No problem. Let’s discuss how to manage multiple sites. We’ll need to get equipment (eg. The “ShoeBox”) out to each location, and there will be some project management required. The talent can really be anywhere an Internet connection is available.
